When The Cat's Away, The Mice Will Play Moth Textile

NEXT TO A RESEARCH ABOUT ACCEPTANCE AND DISCRIMINATION OF UNWANTED SPECIES, CAME A THOROUGH MATERIAL RESEARCH EXPLORING THE OPPORTUNITIES OF EATEN AND AFFECTED TEXTURES. HOW TO TURN SOMETHING THAT IS PERCEIVED WITH DISGUST INTO SOMETHING THAT IS ATTRACTIVE AND EVEN APPEALING TO THE HUMAN EYE. INSTEAD OF HIDING OR SOLVING THE PROBLEM, THE REAL SOLUTION IS TO ACCEPT THESE ‘DEFECTS’ AND SEE IT AS A BEAUTIFUL ACTIVITY AND GRANTED MATERIAL THAT CAN BE USED FOR BUILDING NEW OR APPRECIATING OLD STRUCTURES.

IN THIS SPECIFIC MATERIAL RESEARCH, I GOT INSPIRED BY THE EATING BEHAVIOR OF MOTHS. I WANTED TO EXPERIMENT WITH CREATING A CERTAIN PATTERN OF ONLY WOOL ( THE MATERIAL MOTHS LOVE MOST) AND SEE IF THAT PART WOULD ONLY BE EATEN OUT.

THIS PROCESS WAS IN COLLABORATION WITH TEXTIEL LAB TILBURG.
