Bloeit – An Edible Story of Almere’s Origins


Bloeit was the final outcome of my artist residency at Strandlab Almere, developed in collaboration with chef Paul Jonker. Together we created a multi-sensory dinner that traced the transformation of Almere’s landscape — from water, to reed, to soil, to bloom.

As part of the experience, we invited local experts — from a maritime archaeologist to a reed specialist — to share stories that deepened the connection between place, taste, and material. I led the concept development, visual storytelling, and spatial design, creating ceramics and non-food objects that shaped the atmosphere around the table. The event brought together research, food, and narrative into one shared moment.
