This project takes its title from the myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun. It reflects on the tension between attraction and risk, and how beauty and destruction often coexist.
The moth became my starting point, a quiet, nocturnal creature that lives in the dark corners of our world. It is drawn to light, but that same attraction can be fatal.

We usually think of moths as pests, known for the small holes they leave in fabrics. Instead of hiding those traces, I wanted to see what happens when we make them part of the design process.
Together with TextielLab Tilburg, I experimented with wool and light reflection, the moth’s favorite material and source, and created patterns that invite interaction. The textiles were designed to be “tasted,” allowing the process of damage to become visible over time.

The result is a series of textile works that turns marks and imperfections into something meaningful. It is a small reflection on how we value materials, change, and the overlooked creatures that quietly play a role in our ecosystem.
